Pili Palas Nature World Review

06 November 2024

If you are looking for something fun to do with children who love animals, then there is nowhere better than Pili Palas Nature World in Menai Bridge, Anglesey. Here there are a wide selection of indoor and outdoor animals, with everything from cuddly bunnies and guinea pigs, to friendly goats and parrots.

However, it isn’t all about animals. There are plenty of other on-site activities to keep the children entertained including an indoor soft play area, outdoor play area and even mini tractor rides.

Read on to learn more about Pili Palas Nature World and the many activities that are available at this idyllic all weather family attraction in North Wales..

The Animals

Pili Palas is of course best known for the many animals that live on-site. These are spread out across various sections, with one of the most popular being the farm yard where kids are permitted to get up close and personal with some of the friendlier members of the animal community. This includes miniature donkeys called DJ and Barney, curious goats, ever hungry Kunekune Pigs and giant continental rabbits. There is also a petting corner where your little ones can be introduced to some of the cuddler members of the Pili Palas family such as rabbits and guinea pigs.

These aren’t the only indoor habitats which are perfect for exploring on a rainy day, with Pili Palas also having its own butterfly house which is filled with a plethora of different species which vary in colour. This includes Blue Morphos, Glass Wing butterflies, Zebra Finches and Java sparrows.

We would also strongly recommend making a visit to the bird house where you’ll meet the resident parrot Elvis who is prone to singing Happy Birthday to visitors. With free flying kookaburras and many other chatty parrots, this is an indoor habitat that can be both noisy and colourful.

Those of you who aren’t won over by traditional definition of cuteness, then you may prefer to frequent Lizard Land, bug zone or the tropical house; all of which provide a fascinating insight into the key traits of the many species within.

The Facilities

Regardless of how much fun the animals are, it can still take quite a lot of effort to keep children away from the many play areas that are available at Pili Palas. This includes the park area where kids can take on the obstacle course and zip wire, while the adults relax on the picnic benches.

Other children’s play areas at Pili Palas Nature World include the play barn which features various climbing apparatus and slides, the indoor Pili Palas soft play area and the newly constructed jungle towers which has pretty much everything that a child could ask for in a play area.

If your offspring are attracted to the idea of one day working with animals, then they may enjoy the coin operated mini tractor rides where they will have to navigate around obstacles.

You don’t even need to worry about bringing a packed lunch, with the on-site Meerkat Cafe offering a delicious range of sandwiches, jacket potatoes, hot food options and a dedicated children's menu featuring favourites such as chicken nuggets and sausages. There is plenty of seating available in the cafe and in the additional conservatory where you can enjoy watching the curious meerkats play as you eat.

No visit to Pili Palas Nature World would be complete without a visit to Flutterbuys Shop which is filled with toys, books and keepsakes to help remind you of all the fun you had whilst visiting what is unquestionably one of the best zoos in North Wales.
