Best Restaurants in Rhyl

01 August 2024

If you are looking for places to eat in Rhyl, then you’ll find that you are quite simply spoilt for choice. There seems to be a Rhyl restaurant to suit all kinds of taste and varying dietary requirements with everything from traditional seaside fish & chip shops to Italian restaurants that will make you feel like you have travelled to the Mediterranean.

To help you find the best Rhyl restaurant for you, we’ve put together a top 5 list of what we consider to be the top 5 best restaurants in Rhyl based on our own personal experiences. While we admit that everyone has different tastes and preferences, we hope that our list will provide useful information to help you pick your preferred eatery.

Without further delay, let's get to our number one choice:

1. Les & Rita’s Fish Bar

You can’t have a holiday in Rhyl without treating yourself to some traditional fish & chips and that is exactly what you will get when you dine in Les & Rita’s Fish Bar.

Located right in the centre of Rhyl on Wellington Road, Les & Rita’s Fish Bar has been open since 1968 and dining in the restaurant will make you feel like you have been transported back in time to your own childhood. This is encapsulated by the seating in the restaurant which is very much in the style of a 1950s diner.

Owners Les and Rita Pidduck are now semi-retired but their impact is still very much felt with the current day team running the establishment continuing to adhere to their winning formula. You can opt for your traditional fish & chips, pies, sausage, fishcakes or scampi, or simply select a chip bap if you aren’t quite hungry enough to take on one of their daunting portions. Either way, Les & Rita’s Fish Bar is everything you would expect from a traditional British fish and chip shop.

2. 1891

One of the newer restaurants in Rhyl is 1891 which is located on the first floor of the Rhyl Pavilion Theatre. Its elevated position ensures that you can enjoy your meals whilst admiring stunning coastal views across to the mountains of Snowdonia and beyond.

The modern decor is quite at odds with that styling of Les & Rita’s Fish Bar, reflecting the different offering and clientele that the restaurant is attempting to appeal to. All meals are freshly prepared on-site using locally sourced ingredients, with menu options changing depending upon the season.

Irrespective of what time of year you dine in 1891, you will always find a mix of British and international classics made up of the likes of fish & chips, burgers, fajitas, steaks and much more. A special menu is on offer on a Sunday consisting of your usual roast dinner meats such as turkey and beef in addition to a nut roast option for vegetarians.

1891 also offers a fabulous afternoon tea package which has a Welsh twist to it with bara brith served alongside scones, traditional sandwiches, sausage rolls, strawberries and essential hot beverages.

3. Rossini's

If you are in the mood for an Italian, then you won’t find a better restaurant in Rhyl than Rossini’s on Queen’s Street which was named the best Italian restaurant in Rhyl by Restaurant Guru.

Open 7 days per week from 5:30 till 10:00, Rossini’s first opened its door in 2007 but has gone on to quickly establish itself as one of the best places to eat in Rhyl with flocks of devotees battling to book a table to enjoy food prepared by a renowned chef who has previously served in a variety of 5 star establishments.

The decor and the menu both adhere to what you would expect from an Italian eatery, with pizzas and pastas served alongside steaks and a sensational selection of red and white wines.

4. The Laughing Buddha

Located just outside the main town centre on the Coast Road less than two miles from Marine Holiday Park is the Laughing Buddha which has been a mainstay of the Rhyl restaurant scene for decades.

It has remained popular throughout this time thanks to the quality of the food it offers which includes a mix of Chinese and Malaysian cuisine. You will therefore find your usual mix of rice & noodle dishes, alongside stir frys, curries and a selection of British classics for those who aren’t very adventurous when it comes to their choice of meal.

The Laughing Buddha also offers a very reasonable banquet option for a minimum of two dinners with prices starting at just £20. It is unquestionably the best sit down restaurant in Rhyl for anyone who is in the mood of Chinese cuisine.

5. Fulla's Kitchen - Bar And Grill

A slightly more recent addition to the Rhyl restaurant scene is Fulla’s Kitchen which predominantly serves traditional Jamaican classics alongside a selection of South African meals and tasty Neapolitan-style Pizzas.

It has quickly made a name for itself with its freshly prepared cuisine which is made using locally sourced ingredients. The drinks menu has also proven to be a hit, being  made up of inventive cocktails such as their Kruger Cooler which consists of dark rum mixed with passionfruit & coconut syrup alongside pineapple juice. It is well worth a try if you are in the mood for something a little bit different.
